Dark Music

Dark music is characterized by its scary sound. It is usually comprised of sound effects associated to the underworld. Horror films will never be the same without the sounds and the music attached to it. The fear factor is definitely decreased when the right horror music is not played when they should be.

Dark music must be one of the most powerful compositions considering all music genres. It is a very influential type of music and it can even invoke emotions from its audience. Dark music loops are created in such a way fright and horror is communicated. If these were not achieved, then the composition is a failure. The way the audience interprets the song is also essential in composing horror music.

What's so good about dark music is that it doesn't require formal training. A composer need not be a Mozart or a Beethoven to compose one. This is one type of song where in knowledge of the music meter is virtually unnecessary.

When composing horror music and loops, it is best that the film, TV show, or event that it will be used for is considered. The pace wherein the subject moves could be same the pace as to how the music is played. There is also no need for a trained band or an orchestral to create songs under this genre.

Two of the most noted horror music composers today are John Carpenter and Bernard Herrmann. Carpenter created the sound track and sounds for the films Halloween, Prince of Darkness, and Village of the Damned. Bernard Herrmann, on the other hand, is the genius behind the musical score of the popular horror film, Psycho.
